Introducing the world's
first truly diverse and interchangeable robot platform, the Bioloid
Comprehensive Kit.
The
Bioloid Comprehensive Kit is the first robot of its kind to be built around smart
serially controlled servo technology. This allows the user to construct a wide
variety of robot configurations, including the autonomous exploration robot,
quadruped puppy robot, hexapod spider robot, dinosaur robot and bi-pedal
humanoid...all with one controller board.

The
Bioloid kit is made up of many identical injection molded building blocks that the
builder can mix and match at their discretion. The CM-5 module, shown
below to the left of the three connected servos, is an Atmel ATMega128 based mcu
module, which houses both the controller and the Bioloid's rechargeable battery
pack (9.6V). The controller board uses serial connection to communicate with
each of the servos, and is used for the Bioloid Beginner, Bioloid Comprehensive
and Bioloid Expert Kits
There
are two software utilities that come with the Bioloid, these are:
1. Motion Editor - a
GUI that allows you to create unique motion sequences for your robot through CAD
rendering and torque measuring tools.
 
2. Behaviour Control
Program - a modular GUI that allows you to program sequences of
events/motions with interchangeable blocks.
Using the Motion Editor
in conjunction with the Behaviour Control Program allows the programmer
to use the Motion Editor to generate the Bioloid's motion sequences and then
use the Behaviour Control Program to implement the logic (or
intelligence) of the robot.
